It’s Wednesday, which means the beginning of East Coast Music Week 2014 here in Charlottetown!

This five-day event, also going by the name East Coast Music Awards Week and Eclectic Collection of the Musically Awesome Week (okay, I invented that last one), is an annual initiative of the East Coast Music Association to celebrate and promote music from Canada’s East Coast provinces.

In the spirit of Mother Nature calming down and ECMW 2014, here is a breakdown of the noteworthy venues to check out today.

Baba’s has fathered the 150 Hour Jam in celebration of the 150th anniversary of the Charlottetown Conference.  Attendees of this event, which commenced yesterday morning, will have the pleasure of watching over eighty musical acts, all hours of the day, until next Monday at 6am.

The 150 Hour Jam also boasts a 24-hour kitchen. Falafels at 3am? Don’t mind if I do! For your next late-night study break, head to Baba’s, order a beer at the bar, and check out their impressive lineup. The jam can also be viewed on this live stream, for those who can’t make it out.

If falafel doesn’t cut it for you during Burger Love season, order the Gibran’s Kiss from downstairs at Cedar’s or make your way around the corner to the Big Orange Lunchbox for the Paul Bunyan. Word on the street is that Baba’s next-door neighbors are also serving up food 24-hours a day for the next week. Two cows, one stone.

With burgers on the brain (ahem King Fritter) and your feet longing for toe-tapping rhythms, head to Hunter’s tonight for the ECMW Dance-A-Thon. From 11pm to 7am, Hunter’s official awards show stage will host the likes of Coyote, DMayne Event, Sp00nfed, English Words, Nick Bike, and more. The event is urging attendees to “prepare to dance East Coast Style,” assuring that this dance party all-nighter should not be missed!
